Yvonne (musical)

''Yvonne'' is a musical comedy first performed in 1926.〔(Jazz Age Club. ) Accessed 22 April 2013〕 It was written by Percy Greenbank, Jean Gilbert and Vernon Duke (at that time still using his birth name of Dukelsky).〔(PBS: Vernon Duke ). Accessed 22 April 2013〕
''Yvonne'' was first staged at Daly's Theatre, London, in May 1926, by the company originally created by impresario George Edwardes. Ivy Tresmand took the title role,〔''Theatre World'' no 23 (December 1926)〕 and Arthur Pusey also starred. Other cast members included Maria Minetti, Mark Lester, Horace Percival, and American dancer Hal Sherman. After its London run, Edwardes' theatre company took the production on tour throughout the UK.
The plot concerned Yvonne, the daughter of an academic, who impersonates a music hall singer. The most successful musical number in the score was "Teach me to Dance", with music by Marc Anthony and lyrics by Harry Graham. Copyright: MCMXXV by Ascherwood, Hopwood & Crew Ltd.
